Entry Requirements: +18 years old, no prior knowledge of gemmology required

A person should pursue the Gem-A Foundation Course to gain solid foundational knowledge of gemstone properties, identification techniques, and the practical use of gemmological instruments. It serves as a prerequisite for the Gem-A Diploma, which leads to the internationally recognized FGA qualification.

  • Block F1: Introducing Gems and Gemmology
  • Block F2: Understanding and Communicating the Physical Properties of Gem Materials
  • Block F3: Introducing and Explaining the Gemstone Pipeline from Geology to Jewellery
  • Block F4: Identifying Gemstones, Synthetics and their Various Treatments

 

Those who have completed the Gem-A Foundation Programme are eligible to enroll in the Gem-A Diploma Course.

Entry Requirements: Successfully complete Gem A Foundation Course

 A person should pursue the Gem-A Diploma Course to gain advanced, professional-level expertise in gemmology, building on the foundational knowledge acquired through the Gem-A Foundation Programme. This course offers in-depth skills and knowledge in the identification, grading, and appraisal of a wide range of gemstones, combining advanced theory with extensive practical training. It is especially valuable for individuals aiming to establish or advance careers as globally recognized gemmologists, jewellery appraisers, gem traders, or professionals working in gem laboratories or gemstone sourcing.

Those who have completed the Gem-A Diploma Programme are eligible to receive the Fellowship of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (FGA).
